Foreign media news on September 7: Peru’s Ministry of Energy and Mining said on Thursday that Peru’s copper output reached 229,728 tons in July, a year-on-year increase of 17.7%. From January to July this year, Chilean copper production increased by 19.8% year-on-year. Peru is the world's second-largest copper producer, and the government expects copper output to reach 2.8 million tons this year.
Peru is doubling down on its mining efforts after a report in May said the Democratic Republic of Congo could overtake Peru as the world's second-largest copper producer within the next few years. Peru's production of other metals including zinc, lead, iron, tin and molybdenum also increased in July.
